New £7m Birkenhead Medical Centre Opens Its Doors
Posted on May 18, 2010
LSP’s Medical Centre at Laird Street, Birkenhead competed on 17th May 2010. The building will provide modern healthcare facilities for 12,000 patients. The Miriam and Cavendish Medical Centres who have relocated to the new centre opened their doors to existing patients on 24th and 1st June respectively. Doctors from both practices hailed the facilities in the new building as ‘fantastic’.
The Practices which were previously in cramped and outdated premises, will enjoy spacious, state of the art facilities in the new building. Each will retain its own identity and patient list, so patients will continue to see their own GP.
The new building has been funded and developed in conjunction with primary care investor, Assura and was constructed by Nobles Construction Limited.
An integrated pharmacy has been included within the scheme which will be operated by Vittoria Health Care Limited.
The facility also accommodates services provided by Peninsula Health, a partnership between 26 Wirral GP Practises and leading health provider, Assura Medical.
