Work Commences at Moor Park

Posted on April 23, 2010

A turf cutting ceremony took place on the 23rd March to celebrate the commencement of the Works.

Pochin Construction began work on the primary care, leisure and library development on 8th February 2010. The first phase of the development requiring the closure of the existing swimming pool was completed whilst a new temporary entrance was constructed. Work is now well underway on the new leisure, library and primary care facility.

The development has been designed to ensure there is maximum synergy between health and leisure with a common goal for providing a high quality community facility. The existing pool will incorporate new changing rooms along with a new dry sports hall, fully fitted gym and multi-purpose activity room. In addition to this, a new library to replace the nearby Bispham library will also be provided. A shared atrium entrance connects these facilities to the new Primary Care Centre. The Primary Care Centre will be home to two existing GP Practices together with a host of additional services including a minor operations suite.

The existing park will also be undergoing a complete makeover with lots of new planting, footpaths, a children’s playground and a multi use games area.

The structure is due to commence in May 2010 with the erection of the steel frame and the target is to complete the development by Spring 2011.
