Work Begins on Bleanavon Primary Care Resource Centre

LSP, in conjunction with funding partner Assura Group have commenced another South Wales health project which is set to transform health services for the people of Bleanavon. The 2,000 sqm, £4.5m project will provide replacement premises for the Carreg Wen doctors surgery and will also house Aneurin Beven Health Board led services including dental, a range of therapies, community nursing, health visiting and screening. In addition, there will be Council and police run accommodation serving the local community together with an integrated pharmacy.
The centre is part of the wider £18m Integrated Community Campus scheme, which includes a 130 place day nursery and 450 place primary school, as well as leisure facilities, which have been developed in partnership with Torfaen County Borough Council.
A ceremony to mark the start of the development took place on 16###sup/sup### October 2014, lead by David Jenkins OBE, chair of Aneurin Beven Health Board who said ‘ We are delighted that work is underway on this exciting development. When the centre opens local people will be able to access a range of health and community services in one location for the first time’.
Bob Wellington Torfaen Council leader described the campus as a ‘milestone for one of the most innovative public services projects’.The project is expected to open to patients in the Autumn 2014.
